Whatever comes to mind, is mine

So I’m sitting here listening to a very good CD (Mos Def’s The Ecstatic, go get it) and writing.  I like to write to music, it helps me get into a groove.  You should try it sometime, you’d enjoy what you came up with.  I sure do.  I’ll share a bit of it, and you all can (better) tell me what you think.

WordPress is my canvas, understand this, I’m more than your average, lyrical master. A bastard child prolly broken out the box, like noone really wants one just wanna send them off.  Mama was 14 hold your head high, pops was around nah prolly got knocked, done in by his karma new semi out the box.  It talks “bang bang” says a gun shot, why not?  Dude was only in it for the top.  I’m a hit man, just give me the right pitch but don’t switch man, I’m one of the nicest.  From the SouthSide, home of the pride, what if I died?  Would they even miss me unless they looked into my eyes?  I try, but it’s better left alone, like the calls that you get on a harassment cell phone.  I don’t do this for the dough, I don’t do it for the bread.  I do it cuz I do it, they’ve got prices on my head.  Hey dick, I figured you would have switched, but your reality’s a bitch and you’re wearing off your grips.  Your life is bogus, bet you thought I wouldn’t notice.  Try to tally up but I’m chillin with the voters, game over.

Dental Association of America…and other things

I hate you.  Well replace “I hate you” with “I’m completely terrified of you”, and we have a winner.  I had to get my permanent crown today, and good god do they make you want to shoot yourself.  Some people don’t know the meaning of the word “subtle”, and if they do they just choose to ignore it.  But now I’m the owner of a brand new shiny porcelain and silver tooth.  Well it looks like it has a filling in it, maybe that’s what they were going for, I dunno.  All I know is, I’m glad it’s over….sorta.  Upon leaving, my dentist informed me that not one or two, but all FOUR of my wisdom teeth need to come out.   FOUR!!!!!!!!!  This is like the worst thing possible.  Especially because they told me they don’t knock me out, they just numb me up and then tear my mouth apart and yank teeth.  I already freak out when they just get the drill ready, imagine what’ll happen when they go to work on my actual MOUTH. FACK.

You’ll notice the abnormally LARGE picture next to this text.  That’s because I bought this game “3D Dot Game Heroes” yesterday, and it’s so much goddamn fun, that it deserves a giant picture.  I would try to say that this game is basically Zelda for the Playstation 3, but that’s not doing it justice.  It’s like a 21st century Zelda, only dial down the seriousness.  It knows exactly what it’s trying to be, and what it pays homage to.  If you’ve ever played any of the old school 8bit era adventure games, you’ll know exactly what’s going on here.  If not, well then it’s basically this: dark lord wants to destroy world.  You have to save the world.  Go collect a bunch of shit and be on your way.  That’s basically how I can describe this game, because that’s all it is.  It doesn’t mean to set itself apart from all the other adventure games, it takes what made them all great and rolls them up into one pretty awesome budget priced (it’s 40$ for those of you who wanted to know) game.  Apart from the fact that everything is in giant 3D blocks (pixels, if you will) the visuals are crisp.  It’s interesting seeing your reflection on the castle floor, or seeing the water look so nice, only to notice that everything else is made out of these goofy blocks.  Speaking of which, it’s particularly funny watching your enemies blow up into little block pieces that fly everywhere after you kill them.  Despite it’s charm however, this game is not a complete cakewalk.  You see, you have a sword, like any hero worth their two cents would.  And the thing about your sword is, that when you swing it, it is so large that it can go across the entire screen.  Or shoot laser beams.  HOWEVER, this only happens when you have full health.  So take one measly little hit, and your giant sword becomes a little dinky one and, well it’s a lot harder to survive when you’re up close and personal with enemies, than if you’re killing them from 5 miles away.

The other pretty awesome feature is the character creator.  This is fairly self explanatory, you can easily make whatever you want to be your character.  I’ve seen some really good ones, ranging from the obvious (Link, from Zelda), to Super Mario, to Spider-Man, to some very strange ones (a banana riding a skateboard?).  I hate to use an over-used and slightly corny phrase, but this character creator makes it so that “The possibilities are endless.” So do yourself a favor if you have a PS3, and buy this game.  Maybe if Atlus makes enough money off it, they’ll release Persona 5, and give me a copy for the SHAMELESS promotion I’m doing for this game.  ;) Seriously, go buy it.  Now.

I spent most of my day lounging around with Katie, and well that was…fun. We didn’t even really do much for most of the day, just kinda laid around and talked, played that awesome game, ate, etc.  But the point of it all, was that it was just fun.  You can’t argue with that.  It’s nice to know I can just sit there with my girlfriend and not wanna rip my eyeballs out, like I used to do…with someone.  Heh, but that’s neither here nor there.  It would have been even better, if she didn’t have to work today, and I didn’t have a lousy dentist appointment at 8:30.

Did a bit of writing today, sometimes my lyrics really start to just come together.  Other days they’re all over the place.  Maybe I’ll post a finished product on here in the coming days or so, and look for feedback.  I always appreciate it.

At any rate, I’m about to head out, gotta have a beer with my buddy.  Always have to keep up appearances ya know?  To all of you, catch ya later.

In My Zone

So I’m back at it with a vengence today. I ended up having a pretty decent night went out, saw a few friends. When people know you can do something, they always wanna have you do it even if you don’t. It was like that last night when these chicks wanted me to rap a bit. So I just turned to this girl and said,”Guess what, I don’t like being put on the spot. I’m hot, even when you women think I’m not. Get knocked, I’m the voice of the people til I walk. Play me not, I’m southside Chi til I drop”. And that was good enough for them cuz they went nutso. But see, once you get a reaction out of people, things that were once not appealing now become very appealing. So my buddy joins in, and he’s awful. You know how some people just try to rhyme everything and make it sound a bit better than death? Yeah that’s him. “I rhyme all the time, I’m pretty cool like a mime. I’ve got alot of dimes.”…etc.

Yeah it was that bad. Anywho, it went on like that for about an hour or so just me and him going back and forth, people’s friends may have been insulted, at one point he even got red-faced. It also marked one of the first times I told a chick to step off. Those of you who know me, know I love my ladies. But I’m a good boyfriend (now, right Lindsey? ) and told this chick to bounce. I was pretty proud of myself, I’m normally vert flirty.
Upon my return to home, I stopped by my good friend Beth’s to see her and her fiancé Tyler for awhile. They’re both awesome. Get to know em. Beth gives good advice, when Katie and I broke up at first she was alot of help. That’s a story for another day.
It’s really nice out, I wish I was outside damnit. Being cooped up at AT&T none the less sucks more than normal today. Whackos always seem to come out on my Sunday Fundays. You guys ruin my life. For serial.

Back to Business

I suppose I’m supposed to update this thing more than once every….well it’s supposed to be more…consistent.  I’ve been so busy the past few weeks my life has been a blur.  Literally it’s been like, “Oh hey Larry guess what, you went to bed last night and now it’s next week.  You’re also now 23 years old.”  There have been some serious bright spots though.  Mainly my girlfriend Katie, who has been amazing and is becoming even more daily.

I bought myself a new CD, “The Adventures of Bobby Ray” and I have to say it’s pretty awesome.  If you’ve never heard of B.o.B, check him out, he’s not half bad.  Even though Lupe Fiasco and Eminem steal the show he holds his own.  Listening to good artists makes me want to take my rapping somewhere, but I feel as if I’m too busy and the industry is too crowded for me to really make an impact.  If you’ve ever heard me, you’d probably tell me I could make something of myself.  I dunno if I’d personally go that far, but hey thanks for the support.

If you didn’t know yet, my sister is having a baby!  A little girl we’ve nicknamed TAT (Taylor Alexis Thomassie), and she’s due late June or early July.  So I’ll be making the 1000+ mile trip back to Illinois to see the fam in July, and Katie’ll be flying out the day after I leave.  I’m a bit worried about that, because that’s a long drive for one person.  But I should make it in one piece….right?  Katie’s worried to meet my family, I wouldn’t be they’ll love her, but I’m not a girl so I guess I dunno what goes on in their heads.  I know they’ll love her just like I do.

My mind is racing too much to write most of this stuff today, so I’m gonna have to cut this one short.  I’ll pick it up tomorrow when I can let everything settle.  Just remember everyone, you can’t see past my shades.

iPhone Glory? Maybe

Today, I’m going to take a look at the iPhone WordPress app. This is actually the SECOND time I’m writing this post, as the app decided to dump out my first review.
First off the bat, the app looks and feels solid. As with most iPhone apps, they’re always flashier than their Blackberry counterparts. This one is no exception, as the Blackberry one is streamlined, but does not have a lot on the way of design.

The app gives you all the same functions you’d expect from the blackberry one, and in a lovely iPhone package. You can create, edit, and post straight from the device. Save posts as drafts for later editing on a computer, and the like. Photos again can easily be integrated with your post, however I’ve noticed the hard way when you take a picture for your post, it dumps all your other entries while placing it in there. Not a fan.
In short, I’d say if you only have an iPhone, get this app and be cautious of taking pictures and not just using them. If you have both, try them out and take your pick.

Blackberry Bloggin’

So the WordPress app for Blackberry is nice. I’ll review the iPhone one later on, but for now we’re strictly 9700 cruisin.
First off, it’s streamlined. Nothing says Blackberry like “Cut the crap and just gimme the goods.”. There is zero filler, and that’s one thing that attracts me to this app. Being able to write a post anywhere I am is quite convenient. Also the 9700′s keyboard making typing stuff a snap, but we already know how I feel about this phone
I’m very fond of functionality and integration, and this app does both well.

After signing in, you can create a blog post (like I’m doing right now, from my phone), check comments, categories, etc. I can add pictures to my post, right from the device. You want to create an excerpt? Done. Custom Field? Yeah, done.

(This would be me at the Modern Warfare 2 Midnight launch.  Yes I got my Night Vision Goggles, don’t hate now.)

The best part of this blackberry app, is that I sent my unfinished draft to my computer, where I’m now finishing it.  While the Blackberry app does give you a lot of flexibility as to what you can do while out and about, it obviously will not replace the tried and true WordPress website.  But hey, we’re all winners here right?

Welcome All, and food for thought

I write a lot. That’s the first thing you’ll learn about me.  I’ve always got something going through my head, and until today I had nowhere to put all of this stuff.  To start everyone off, here are several things about me that you might find interesting or strange:

When I was 2 years old, I somehow managed to climb UP our refrigerator, because I wanted a cookie.  No joke, ask my mom.  She was just as surprised as most people are when they hear that story, usually from her.

I fell out of a tree when I was 6, and have been terrified of heights ever since.

I am addicted to my Blackberry 9700, and if you don’t own one I suggest you rectify that quickly.  It even has a WordPress app on it, would you look at that?!  (Seriously, go buy one)

I hate the dentist.  Almost to the point of it being a crippling fear.  I’m 22. (I know, I should have outgrown this a long time ago.)

I listen to Hip-Hop 99% of the time, but I can rattle off almost any RHCP song, because they’re my favorite band.  (Favorite song as of this post: Can’t Stop)

My best friend is my ex-girlfriend.  Mind=Blown

I have extremely bad ADHD and will bounce off walls any anything else when given the chance.  I don’t sit still.  Ever.

I believe in knocking on wood.  For almost everything.  Karma’s a bitch.

There will be plenty more, when the opportunity arises.  For my first post round up, I’ll leave everyone with this.  DON’T RUN RED LIGHTS. Seriously, not cool folks.  If you’re gonna speed up to beat a light, do it before it turns red, not after.  Nothing beats seeing your life flash before your eyes because some moron decided it’d be better to put the pedal to the metal after the light was red.  And with that I’ll thank you all for coming, and see you next time.  (Did you buy your Blackberry 9700 yet?)
